DETAILED PROJECT REPORTS FOR INTEGRATED HOUSING AND SLUM DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME (IHSDP) UNDER JAWAHARLAL NEHRU NATIONAL URBAN RENEWAL MISSION (JNNURM)
Yet another step in the housing solutions for urban poor saw central government of India combining two existing schemes VAMBAY and NSDP under a new scheme for ameliorating the conditions of urban slum dwellers whom do not posses adequate shelters and reside in dilapidated condition. The components for consideration under the scheme will include housing as well as infrastructural facilities like water supply and sewerage. The scheme envisages three tier coordination with the project cost divided between central and state governments and local governing bodies with a stipulated 12% beneficiary contribution. The master plan for such a project as envisaged by C-Earth met with the physical and social needs of existing population ,provided spaces for informal education among ageing generation and laid emphasis on development of a new generation with social commitment. The task schedule included conductance of detailed socio- economic surveys identification of levels intervention in the existing house hold assuring the proper fund management and overseeing the fund allocation to the right personals and right areas. The architectural interventions involved repair of damaged houses reconstruction of irreparable houses, construction of G + 2 apartments, community buildings etc. in adjacent govt.properties.C-EARTH coordinated the whole project working hand in hand with various agencies and NGOs like Kudumbashree, Municipalities, corporations etc. So far DPRs were successfully submitted and got approved for Corporation of Cochin, Municipalities of Kalamassery, Thrippunithura, Nedumangadu and Varkala.
